Carl Adams

Carl is a mining engineer with over 10 years’ experience as a mine manager and engineer and 8 years' consulting experience working on projects with a range of resource and industrial clients.

His specific area of expertise relates to the organisational and leadership elements required for the successful execution of strategy and business improvement programs.

He has a Masters of Leadership and Management, a Graduate Diploma in Business and a Bachelor of Engineering with First Class Honours in Mining Engineering from the Curtin University of Technology where he received the university medal.

He is a member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and holds Western Australian and Northern Territory First Class Mine Manager's Certificates of Competency. He has had papers published on costing techniques in the mining industry.

David Noort

David is a mining engineer whose expertise is based on 20 years of experience in contracting and resource operations in Australia, Europe and Africa. He has completed a number of consulting projects, including the management of a business improvement program for one of the world's largest mining contractors.

David has been involved at management level in advanced resource projects, feasibility studies and construction projects and has experience as an executive director for a contracting company pursuing growth strategies overseas.

He has a Masters of Business Administration graduating with distinctions from the University of Western Australia and a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in Mining Engineering from the University of Queensland.

He is a member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and holds a Western Australian First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency. He has had papers published on mining project management systems.

Luke Bryan

Luke is a mining engineer with over 15 years' experience across a range of technical, production and management roles.

He has held senior positions with companies in Europe, Middle East, New Zealand and North America including positions in engineering and operations management of underground and surface mining operations both in Australia and Africa.

His experience includes operations and contract management of a financial services company servicing international investment banks. His other industry experience includes contract mining, construction, process engineering, software design and implementation, and food manufacturing.

He has a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) and a Bachelor of Arts (Economics and Politics) both from Auckland University.

Sabina Shugg

Sabina is a mining engineer and has held senior management positions within the resources sector as well as been involved in a range of mining studies whilst working as a mining consultant for a large Perth firm.

Her expertise includes business improvement (six sigma black belt qualified), mine management and management of technical studies in the resources industry.

Sabina was integrally involved with the preparation and delivery of a feasibility study for the largest gold mine in WA.

She has a Mining Engineering degree from Curtin University and is currently completing a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Western Australia. She also holds a West Australian First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency and is a member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.

She founded the very active Women in Mining WA Network which has 400 members across WA.

William Seal

William is a Consultant with Element CMC specialising in Lean Manufacturing. Prior to joining Element CMC, William held fixed plant leadership positions before being trained as a Lean Advisor and Acting Mine Superintendent at a bauxite mine for a major mining company. He brings with him an intimate knowledge of 5S, standardised work, Quick-Changeover and Total Productive Maintenance, and how to implement these in a mining environment.

William has a trade background, is a member of the Institute of Automotive Mechanical Engineers and has a Diploma in Business. He has a Yellow Belt in Six Sigma.

With 13 years in the Royal Australian Air Force, William has been trained in many Quality Systems, including AS9000 and RAAFQ and was deployed on operations in East Timor. This has provided him with a systematic grass roots approach to meeting challenges head on as well as an understanding of the role of performance improvement and leadership in the workplace.


Colin Roberts

Colin is a resources lawyer, international commercial and investment arbitrator, accredited international commercial mediator, adjudicator and expert determiner, with over 35 years of multi-disciplinary resource industry experience. Colin has spent much of his time in the Developing World in his capacity of managing resource projects, in his Resource Law capacity and in the assessment and mitigation of sovereign risk.

Colin directs the LLM programme in International Dispute Management at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) at the University of Dundee. He is a Senior Research Fellow, lecturer of International Arbitration and was formerly Deputy and Commercial Director of the CEPMLP Director of the MBA Programme in Resource Management and leader of the CEPMLP Africa Programme.

Colin originally graduated from the Western Australian School of Mines, and is a Chartered Mining Engineer, a Chartered Petroleum Engineer, and a Chartered Scientist. He also has additional qualifications in Resources Law & Policy (Dundee) and International Commercial Arbitration (London).


Paul Nedin

Paul is a mining engineer with 20 years experience in mine operations and mine safety best practise at various levels, with a number of years managing in senior statutory positions.

He has been involved in managing the implementation of several large mine infrastructure construction works for underground materials handling projects in Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

He has also lead rockfall research projects for the Australian Centre for Geomechanics, which has subsequently been referred to by a number of mining institutions around the world as world’s best practice

Paul has a Mining Engineering degree from the University of South Australia, holds a West Australian First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency, a West Australian Shift Supervisors Certificate of Competency and is a member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.

 

 


Troy Jackson

Troy is a geologist with over 4 years production experience within Australian open cut mining operations, and 2 years experience as an analyst for a private equity funds management company specialising in the resource sector. 

His experience includes mine geology for the iron ore and mineral sands industries, as well as research and due diligence on mining operations in Australia and overseas.

He has a Bachelor of Science degree in geology from the University of Tasmania where he was awarded a scholarship to study at the University College of London. He also has a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment (corporate and structured finance) from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA).
